Moving
- Utility hook ups. Notify your current providers and ensure you have service at your new destination. Remember phone / internet connections, natural gas, power, and satellite / cable.
- Insurance for your home and contents. Your mortgage company requires it as well before you receive your new keys.
- Cleaners. Think of 2 homes. You have a home to leave, and one to move into which require a scrubbing. Be sure to leave your past home as a good reflection of yourself. You may want to hire professionals. Look at steam cleaning your rugs as well. Book in advance!
- Interview schools, register, and send a transcript of marks for your children.
- If you or your family has health issues, look at community hospitals for some guidance. Ask questions and ensure they have the care for your situation.
- Will you use a licensed moving company or rental truck. Call to book your desired dates.
- Young children may find their move easier at Grandmas or at a friends. The day is long and confusing.
- Pets may need a place to stay during the big day. Look at kennels or a friend to lessen the stress.
- Get lots of rest. The whole day is busy for you too!
- If you have a special or possibly breakable item to pack and move, discuss how it is to be moved. Maybe special packing materials are required too.
